Submission guidelines

Authors should submit their manuscripts online via the "Submit My Manuscript" menu.

All submissions undergo double-blind peer review and must adhere to the following guidelines.

1. Manuscript Types

Original Articles (4,000–6,000 words):
Empirical, theoretical, or methodological contributions that offer significant insights into social scientific debates in the subject field.

Research Notes (up to 3,000 words):
Concise reports of ongoing, preliminary, or exploratory research that present novel ideas, data, or analytical approaches.

Review Essays (up to 3,000 words):
Critical syntheses or evaluations of current debates, theoretical developments, or emerging research areas relevant to the journal’s scope.

All word limits exclude references, tables, and figures.

2. Manuscript Preparation

All manuscripts must be submitted in English and formatted in a clear, scholarly style. Please use 1.1 spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and 1-inch (2.54 cm) margins. A manuscript is composed of the following elements:

  • 1) Cover Letter summarizing the manuscript’s significance and its alignment with the journal’s aims and scope.
  • 2) Title Page containing:
    • a) full title of the manuscript (with a running head);
    • b) all authors’ names, institutional affiliations, and contact details (including email address, phone number, and ORCID iD);
    • c) acknowledgments;
    • d) funding sources;
    • e) conflict of interest statement; and
    • f) word count (exclusive of abstract, tables, figures, and references).
  • 3) Main Text typically with:
    • a) Title;
    • b) Abstract (150–200 words);
    • c) 4–6 keywords (separated by semi-colons);
    • d) Introduction;
    • e) Theories;
    • f) Methods;
    • g) Results/Findings;
    • h) Conclusion/Discussion; and
    • i) References

You can easily locate some examples through the most recently published papers in SC, as well.

Tables and Figures

Embed tables and figures within the manuscript near their first citation.
Number all tables and figures consecutively with clear, descriptive captions.
Submit high-resolution versions (minimum 300 dpi) as separate files if required.
Limit to a total of 5 tables and figures, combined.

Supplementary Materials

Optional materials (e.g., extended data tables, survey instruments, codebooks) may be submitted as separate files labeled “Supplementary Material.”
